Bonus Experience Award Guidelines

Bonus Experience Awards

There is no requirement or expectation for any player to make updates or contributions to this Obsidian Portal site. But for those players who wish to do so and are able to make the time, bonus experience will be awarded for their extra effort. Listed below are some of the experience awards one can expect to receive in this manner:

XP Award: Description:
500 to 1,000 xp Write/upload a fleshed out/detailed background for your character.
Note: A player can only get this bonus xp one time per PC.
XP Award: Description:
100 to 300 xp Write/upload a character perspective log for the most recent game session.
50 to 150 xp Write/upload a character perspective log for a previous game session.
100 to 300 xp Write/upload additional character perspective logs/journals which reveal events that transpire between last game session and next game session.
50 to 150 xp Write/upload additional character perspective logs/journals which reveal events that transpired between two past game sessions.
100 to 300 xp Character activity (RP or even just general housekeeping) between last game session and next game session.
Note: A player can only earn a maximum of 900 xp in this way before the next game session.
XP Award: Description:
100 to 600 xp Write/upload an approved NPC with stats (50 to 300 xp) and background (50 to 300 xp).
100 to 300 xp Write/upload an approved NPC team/group/organization with background which ties into a character.
25 to 300 xp Miscellaneous award to cover updates or events not previously mentioned.
Note: A player can only earn a maximum of 900 xp in this way before the next game session.

A player can choose to forgo accepting XP for the character and instead receive the (XP Award) × 10 as in-game dollars which can be added to a character’s funds or immediately used to purchase equipment or services which have been approved by the GM..

All XP awards and xp award caps listed (except for the Character Background award) are based on a character that is level 1, 2 or 3. If the character to receive the XP Award is above level 3, apply the modifiers listed below to the XP awards as follows:

Character is level 4, 5, or 6 when bonus xp is awarded: (XP Award) × 2
Character is level 7, 8, or 9 when bonus xp is awarded: (XP Award) × 3
Character is level 10, 11, or 12 when bonus xp is awarded: (XP Award) × 4
Character is level 13, 14, or 15 when bonus xp is awarded: (XP Award) × 5
Character is above level 15 when reward is earned: How the hell did that happen?

These XP rewards are based on the character’s level at the end of the game session (after game session experience has been added). For example, if a level 3 character would reach level 4 after the XP award given by the first journal, the remainder of the subsequent XP earned before the next game is not increased by ×2 because the character was level 3 at the end of the session.
